3D Objects & 2D Shapes

Refresher pp 66-67

Learning Outcomes:

The student will:

parlines.gif (1476 bytes) two parallel lines (p & q) and a transversal (t) Before the next rules can apply, there must be two parallel lines and a transversal.

symbols:

< angle     @ congruent

altintangle.gif (1687 bytes)

Alternate interior angles are congruent Interior (inside) angles are the ones between the two parallel lines p and q.

<3 @ <6 and <4 @ <5

altextangle.gif (1655 bytes) Alternate exterior angles are congruent Exterior (outside) angles are the ones above and below the two parallel lines p and q.

<1 @ <8 and <2 @ <7

intangles.gif (1682 bytes) Interior angles on the same side of the transversal are Supplementary (total 180o)

<3 + <5 = 180o

<4 + <6 = 180o

extangles.gif (1680 bytes) Exterior angles on the same side of the transversal are Supplementary (total 180o)

<1 + <7 = 180o

<2 + <8 = 180o

Review: The first one will take a couple of minutes to appear, but next ones will be much quicker.
